The choir is for children in grades 7-9. Previously known as the Middle School/Jr. High Honor Choir.
WVACDA 7-9 All State Choir Process:
Step 1 – Become a member of ACDA by joining here https://acda.org/membership
Step 2 – Request singer allotments
Step 3 – After receiving your allotments register your singers
Step 4 – Order the music and teach it to your students
Step 5 – Make sure you are registered for the conference
Step 6 – Get hotel accommodations
Step 7 – Attend the conference with your singers

2027 Conductor: Reuben A. Burrows
Reuben A. Burrows is an accomplished choral music educator, composer, conductor, and clinician whose 20-year career centers on excellence, authenticity, and student empowerment. A Philadelphia native, he creates inclusive musical communities and fosters environments where students build confidence, grow, embrace risk, and discover their inner and artistic voices. An engaging teacher noted for his passion and artistry, Mr. Burrows was voted Favorite Middle School Teacher in Prince George’s County overwhelmingly in The Gazette’s ‘My Favorite Teacher’ competition in 2011, and again in 2014.
His award-winning choirs have earned national recognition, consistently securing superior festival ratings in both performance and sight-reading. Ensembles under his direction have garnered attention from local and national news sources, including The Washington Post. They have also received praise from play-by-play announcers during a live broadcast after performing his arrangement of The Star-Spangled Banner at Nationals Park.
As a composer, Burrows draws inspiration and influence from his Jewish heritage, and his works have achieved worldwide acclaim; dedicated to his late father, Benjamin, his recently published Hashkiveinu is featured in the Oxford University Press anthology for mixed voices, Accessible and Beautiful, with another arrangement set appear in Oxford’s upcoming anthology for low voices. Additionally, his Non Nobis, Domine was performed at St. Peter’s Basilica in the Vatican.
Holding degrees from Towson University (BSME) and Shenandoah Conservatory at Shenandoah University (MME), Mr. Burrows remains an active guest conductor, adjudicator, and clinician, inspiring musicians
through storytelling, musicianship, and an unwavering commitment to meaningful, intentional, and purposeful music-making.
