A Message from
our president:
Jeff Poland
Welcome to the homepage of the West Virginia chapter of the American Choral Directors Association. On this website you will find documents and photographs that illustrate who we are and what we do as professional choral musicians. If you are visiting this site from outside West Virginia, I believe you will be impressed by the scope and quality of our activities. If you are one of the active and dedicated members of this organization, I believe you can be justifiably proud of the accomplishments of WVACDA, and will join me in working to improve, expand, and promote choral music at all levels in our State.
Opportunities for choral singing in West Virginia range from public elementary school and community childen’s choirs through adult symphony choruses and semi-professional choirs. Students in West Virginia choirs have participated in honor choirs sponsored by ACDA at state, division, and national conventions. Choral conductors in West Virginia have held leadership positions on Southern Division and National Convention committees, as well as elected offices in the Southern Division. The annual conference of WVACDA boasts two honor choirs which were founded by our organization, the All-State High School Chamber Choir and the Junior High/Middle School Honor Choir, and a Collegiate Honor Choir that includes representation from many of the college and university choral programs.
I know that you will enjoy participating with your colleagues in the art of choral music. WVACDA is our link to each other and beyond the state borders to the highest standards of choral sound and repertoire. It is my distinct pleasure to represent you as president, and I hope you will keep in touch with me and your R&S Chairs so that we can help our organization grow and prosper.
