T. Edwin Harkless (Ed)

 

An organist and/or choral director since he was in the eighth grade, Ed attended West Virginia University, received a B.A. degree in Music Education and Piano from Morris Harvey College in Charleston, WV and holds the Master's Degree in Vocal Performance from Marshall University where he studied with Dr. Paul Balshaw.  

 

He has continued his studies in master classes in organ, composition, voice, conducting, psalmody, and choral music. He has taught music in Cabell County for 23 years and is currently at Cabell Midland High School where he directs the madrigal choir, Collegium Musicum, and teaches piano and guitar. Collegium musicum has performed in WV, Ohio, Pa, Washington, DC, San Francisco and recently completed a week performing tour of Ireland where they sang in St. Patrick’s Cathedral, Dublin, St. Mary’s Cathedral, Killarney, and at Knoppeague Castle.

 

Ed is currently serving as the organist for First Presbyterian Church, Huntington.

 

Ed was the state R & S Chair for WV ACDA Junior High / Middle School Choirs for 9 years and is a region chair and the All State Chorus Chair for the WVMEA Vocal Music Association.

 

He and his wife Cinda, (an ordained PC (USA) minister) have three daughters: Katy,(a research psychologist employed by Wake Forest Medical School; Sarah Beth, third year law student at the University of SC; and Caroline, a nursing school student at WVU.

 

Additionally, Ed has been to Peru four times with mission groups from First Presbyterian church, Huntington, where he serves as the chair of the International Missions Committee. He is a founding member and webmaster for the Amazon Mission Fellowship, promoting and participating in missions to the Peruvian churches in the Amazon River jungle.
