David Anderson

In addition to serving as Worshop Director for GIA Publications, Inc., David serves as Director of Music and Liturgy for Ascension Parish in Oak Park, Illionis. David’s outreach of music in the parish embraces a broad variety of ages and musical abilitiy. David’s formal education includes theological studies at Catholic Theological Union and Loyola University of Chicago, a Master of Church Music degree from Concordia University and advanced choral studies from Westminister Choir College. David is a well- known speaker at many national conferences, is frequently asked to prepare the litugy and music for various conferences and for retreats, has consulted and authored materials for various publishing houses and has authored the book Handbook of Church Music for Weddings. He has served as editior for several GIA hymnals, including Ritual Song and the children’s hymnal Singing our Faith. David also provides leadership and planning in the Chicago area for the Taize form of prayer. Over 800 people from many denominations gather once a month to participate in this form of prayer. David will have just returned from the Taize Community in France a week before we work under his direction.
