David Castleberry is Professor of Music and Director of
Choral Activities at Marshall University, where he conducts the Chamber Choir
and Choral Union and teaches courses in choral conducting and literature. He
has served as President of WV ACDA and is currently President-Elect for
Southern Division ACDA. Additionally, he has served on the Editorial Board of
Choral Journal and as Editor of the CD Reviews Column. Choirs under his
direction have performed for conferences of ACDA, MENC, and in a variety of tours,
recordings, and televised presentations. Dr. Castleberry holds a BM in church
music from Furman University and the MM and DMA in conducting from
The University of Texas at Austin. Before coming to Marshall University in 1990, he taught at Knox College in Galesburg, Illinois, and at Wagner College on Staten Island, New York. In addition to his work at the
university, he is active as a lecturer and clinician and serves as Director of
Music at Saint
John’s Episcopal Church in Huntington.
